Let's learn what self-holding in contactor means
and ill show you how to wire it

Let's say you want to control your Three or single phase motor with a self-holding circuit.
First, you will need the following

(1) CONTACTOR (4 poles) or with NO auxiliary
(2) STOP AND START PUSH BUTTONS
(3) AUTO CABLES (for connection)

First, make sure you follow the CIRCUIT as per reference in the video.

Like every one else, thank you so much for explaining this in very simple terms a knucklehead like me can understand. I am building a new control panel for a milling machine and I had everything worked out except for how to use momentary switches for the contactor. I want to use a contactor for safety as I didn’t want the mill to be able to restart on its own if there was a power interruption. Problem solved thanks to you.
