What if your perfect lawn is actually part of the problem? In this episode of Texas Country Reporter, we meet Bill Neiman, founder of Native American Seed, who’s helping Texans replace their water-hungry, fertilizer-dependent lawns with beautiful, self-sustaining native plants.

At first glance, this is a story about grass. But dig a little deeper, and it’s about something far more powerful—conserving water, restoring lost ecosystems, and rethinking what it means to leave something behind for future generations.

With only 1% of Texas’s Blackland Prairie remaining, Bill has spent decades collecting and planting native wildflower and grass seeds—seeds that require no irrigation, no chemicals, and no apologies to the environment. His goal: to help every Texan build a better lawn that reflects the natural beauty of the place we call home.

🌱 Whether you’re searching for low-maintenance lawn alternatives or curious about eco-friendly landscaping, this story will inspire you to trade your mower for meaning.

Last few years, Other than veggies. I buy my seeds from Native Seed. This coming year I have added a pocket prairie. I’m excited to see it grow this year

I live in North Texas, Decatur and have been allowing my land to remain wild grassland. Each year I collect the seeds. I plan to share them at the library seed bank to encourage others to cultivate native grasslands.

Also, and more important than the land which you cannot take with you when you die, the Creator requires that you be a good steward of your soul.

To do so, you must choose to trust in Him daily, the Creator-God Who gave you Jesus.

THIS will be the talk of the town among us 200 years from now in ETERNAL LANDS.

Don’t be upset then if you laughed at this little warning now.
