Such a terrifying and out there set of exploration logs ... and the snapping and sucking sounds... and the recursive space that is just a repeating set of the town... I just really like to consider the place where the crooked man stays and the horrifying creatures that he seems to create from his victims. It's like he has his own pocket dimension where he is a wicked and crooked god. Really good writing

I gotta level with you...Mal-o gives me the same vibes as Elias from 'The Ancient Magus Bride'. Scary-looking, but ultimately friendly and harmless. A bona fide "book + cover" lesson there.

I could understand how the kid interpreted the presence as comforting at times. Once the initial fear had time to settle and I'd realized I wasn't being harmed, despite them having countless opportunities to do so...I'd find the presence comforting too. Like a reminder that I'm not alone, even if sometimes I might think I am.
