Hey, this is wonderful of you to do this.  I am a lord of the rings/hobbit fan.  Two years ago i pieced an awesome hobbit costume together.  I had to hairy feet and all.  But i never thought to make this and i did, and it turned out great.

People usually use latex weapons to don't hurt the player but this is an AWESOME DIY Sting so I will just use a lot of tape so this don't break in the middle of a match. Congrats for the video!

Thanks Tim. I have yet to work with PVC, but it definitely seems like that's the way to go. I had a quick look at your video, and the end product (even unfinished) looks pretty sweet. I'll have to watch the whole thing when I get some free time.

Nice job! I love this technique - going to have to try it out. Right now I make "play-worthy" weapons with PVC, and it's nice, but this looks just amazing!

Press in designs would be very cool. I don't have anywhere at the moment in my apt that I could blow-torch.. but I'm sure I could find somewhere :) Thanks for the suggestion.. I'll definitely be checking it out!

I'll see what I can do. I've already got plans to create an actual pattern for the bowser plush, so hopefully once I get that made, it'll be possible to modify it a bit to make it a dry bowser plush.

As long as it's dry first, it shouldn't. Painters tape is designed to do exactly that.. mask off an area, but not pull the paint below it off.

That's a great suggestion. I've got my next couple video ideas lined up, but I'll definitely try to get to this before the desolation of smaug comes out.

You could probably order some online. Then use tools to make the ring initially, make it smooth and such, then wait until it's leather hard, and carve out the designs using a paper template to figure out where the words should go.

I actually haven't seen any backyard FX before, but it's definitely possible we've got the same style.. since it seems to fit with these types of video's pretty nicely.
