In this video, I was fortunate enough to be able to play-along to a song written by Drumeo's audio engineer and production coordinator, Victor Guidera. Victor spent some time in the middle east and became a fan of the music and different instrumentation.

The song was originally written to not have a drum track. One of our Drumeo students requested I teach a lesson on how to write drums for a song that doesn't currently have drums. That would be over an hour lesson, so rather than teach that I thought I would demonstrate how easy and fun it can be.

Also, another request was to play something using the rims of the drums... So I also included a section on the song using the rims.

I have not because I never hold the sticks that way. In Drumeo we have a few instructors who play trad grip so there are lessons in there on that technique. Nothing on our Youtube channel though. Sorry!

Love taking the snare off. I actually do it a lot. Aaron Harris from Isis has one of my favourite snare sounds because of it.

Jared, no offence, but this is the first video I've seen from most of the Drumeo crew with TONS of feel to the drumming. Really nice work.

I suggest Drumeo to make an open competition using a single drumkit on a raw recording (this to not let anyone with little recording equipment out. . . such as myself, who records using just his iMac... planning to get soon an FXPRO7 and mics....). The participants would send his version on drums of this same song. . . and Drumeo would choose a winner and the price. . . . :) cheers!

I just watched the Bonham less you did, and again, great feel. You've always been great technically (and leaps and bounds ahead of me, for sure), but it seems you're letting go of that and letting yourself feel the drums more.

Not every day you can interact with someone whose playing you think is great, so thought I'd let you know.
