This is such a helpful summary of Seminar III! Thanks again for all the great work you're doing! The four metaphors work so well together to clarify the main function of the (paternal) signifier.

I really enjoyed the journey of each of these seminars. I have a question, does the analyst help the analysand to reconstitute an internal paternal figure/signifier to help stabilise the reconstruction of a symbolic order? What is the aim of an analyst from the point of psychosis? What does Lacan recommend as a prognosis? Or is this something that is examined in later seminars?

I would like to ask, if I may, while admiring immensely all the work you have done, whether the fact that you are not a practicing analyst will interfere wirh or even lead to failure of the work you have done so far? Does one not at some level ‚agree‘ with Lacan in order to give an explanation of such concepts. I am so sorry if i am being too critical, and i definitely wish you continue these excellent lectures!

It's interesting that Lacan doesn't address the reason why Schreber Jr. failed to assimilate the Name-of-the-Father. His father was very present in his childhood, he was revered as a God, was well-respected and even famous in the society - a very strong image of a father. He was also torturing his son with different orthopedic mechanisms and gymnastic routines.

Is it possible that Schreber failed to assimilate the primal signifier because his father was TOO harsh and tyrannical? His excessive power proved his weakness - if you're strong, you don't need to be that harsh. It's like with crystals - they're very hard, but very fragile and the same time. So, does it mean that father's absence is not the only basis for a psychotic structure to emerge?
