My friend explained the joke to me. Basically Snap Krackel and Pop were at war with the Keebler elves and Snap died on the battlefield.

How the Pop and Crackle tell it: he valiantly sacrificed himself to save us and took dozens with him.

This was quite a well played out joke if memory serves me right, spoilers
At the start with Peter finding Judd hirsh working on weapons.
Later we get the scene where the elves make a plan to attack Snap, mentioning Hirsh and then we get to this final scene.

Snap probably would've survived if Pow, (the short-lived fourth and nonverbal Rice Krispies mascot) had stuck around. Pow would've most definitely unloaded a can of whoop-ass on those Keebler Elves!
