The title is misleading. *ALL* major currencies are falling against USD for the past 3 months.
GBP to USD has fallen from 1.34 to 1.24, down 7.5%;
EUR to USD has fallen from 1.12 to 1.03, down ~8%;
JPY to USD has fallen from 0.0071 to 0.0063, down 12%;
CNY to USD has fallen from 0.142 to 0.136, down 4.3%.

If we compare CNY against other major currencies (excluding USD) then we can see it has slightly appreciated for the same time period:
GBP to CNY has fallen from 9.44 to 9.06, down 4%
EUR to CNY has fallen from 7.98 to 7.56, down 5.3%
JPY to CNY has fallen from 0.050 to 0.044, down 12%

As for why for the past 3 months? It was the highest point for all other major currencies for the past year, and it is fairly recent.
