About IBS Treatment Center
===========================

Dr. Stephen Wangen, co-founder and Medical Director of the IBS Treatment Center, and his staff have successfully helped over 10,000 people resolve irritable bowel syndrome and chronic digestive problems since 2005.

Some patients have had IBS symptoms so severe that they spent a considerable amount of time in the hospital. Others are suffering alone at home and are no less frustrated with the impact that it is having on their lives. The thread that tied them all together was that they had never seen an IBS expert (much different than a gastroenterologist), a doctor whose only mission is to help people solve IBS.

Hi Doc I think something like this is going on with me. 8 months ago one day after I have opened my bowels I started having this feeling like I haven't passed my bowels completely, I went back to toilet but nothing will come out. after that I constantly felt like that I needed to open my bowels or that my rectum(colon) wasn't completely empty. I felt like that even when I was opening bowels regularly, sometimes twice a day. I searched on google and it was a symptom of IBS so I thought I had IBS. this went on for 2-3 weeks and then suddenly it just went away. And then after 1 month symptoms started again and they went on for 2-3 weeks, but this time instead of going away, they lead to urinary symptoms. when my urinary symptoms started my bowel symptoms went away. My urinary symptoms were that I was urinating frequently and then sometimes I was feeling burning sensation while peeing or ejaculating. When I went to my doctor he didn't knew what to make of my symptoms, I explained him that I think it was IBS, but he took my urine sample and sent it to lab, cause he thought it was UTI. But results came back with no UTI. then I saw another doctor who listened to me and suggested that I might have prostatitis. He did a manual examination and during the examination my prostate was really tender and sore and he concluded that it was prostatitis. He started me on doxycycline 100 mg per day. I took it for 1 month and my symptoms went away. they stayed away for 1 month and after that I started having urinary symptoms again but less severe then before. This time he charted me Doxycycline 100 mg twice a day, I started taking it and my symptoms were completely gone in 1-2 weeks, I took it for 1 month. After that I didn't have any symptoms for 3 months. and now again just 2 days ago, I felt the same bowel symptom like before like for a day and it triggered my urinary symptoms and since yesterday I have been having my urinary symptoms again. I am a Registered Nurse myself, I am confused if it is prostatitis giving me both my bowel and urinary symptoms or do I have IBS that is causing prostatitis. with IBS, feeling of not properly emptied rectum is the only symptom that I have. I will be extremely grateful to you if you can help me understand my issue or give me your opinion. Thank you.
