I am a surgical tech at a vet clinic and ive seen a doctor actually open the wrong leg for a TPLO (Anterior cruciate ligament “A.C.L” repair). Thankfully the pet did eventually need a meniscus repair in that leg so he called the owner and asked her if she wanted him to do it for free and she said yes. She never found out that he cut it on accident.
Definitely not ethical but an interesting story.

There are many surgeries where they use controllers to operate a surgeon robot, and they have been known to have input lag resulting in slip ups.

It may seem too much to speak about '' assault '', but it is really important to protect the patient.
You are asleep, unable to defend yourself and someone is cutting into you ^^
Just in case the surgeon doesn't like me, i'll take the protection, thank you!

(Being a surgeon doesn't make you a good person by default. And it terrifies me to imagine how many people have been manipulate by terrible people who happened to be doctors - Money, or sometime circumstances; like this story I head a long time ago about a man in the late 18th, I think, who started as a temporary help for nurses and docs on the front of war, but with multiple situations of people dying, he gained a little rank here and there, and by the end of his service/or war, he was able to get a FULL DEGREE and suddenly as able to practice medicine. And he did terrible things..)

this happened to me actually. 🙃 idk if it was a sneeze or what but I had open heart at 9 months old. They cut some tube that apparently due to tension sprung into a little ball sealing itself. (They also thought it was a blood clot for a while) and idk if it's why, but my heart rate jumps very easily (I exercise at 180-210bpm) wish I had autonomy then bc prolly cant do anything now 🙃

My ex worked at Tucson Medical Center for years & 24 years ago was in the next Operating Room when a surgeon amputated the wrong leg. The messed up thing was that they still had to cut off the original diseased leg afterwards. Poor man now has to live with no legs. I doubt this was a sneeze 🤧. The hospital tried to cover up their screw up by lying to the patient & family but luckily a couple of techs & nurses came forward. That surgeon is still operating! 🤬 Hospitals & some doctors are very shady here in the US 😢 no lawsuit can fix this!

I’ve never heard of a doctor or lawyer apologize or say sorry, at least in the USA. for legal reasons, apologizing is an admission of guilt/wrongdoing.
Maybe it’s extremely rare for a doctor to apologize.
