You seem to have a better understanding of American politics than many Americans.

For the politician's income thing, I don't think how much money they have should matter but 1. They should not get much income for being a politician, they should be required to have a real job so that they remain attached to reality and always know what normal life is like. And 2. They should not be allowed to trade single stocks. Period. If they want to invest for the future, they can go through mutual funds. No more of this corrupt insider trading.
