How I got here…

21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.

Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.

Never quit,

Alex

*FULL DISCLOSURE*
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

I still remember the first roof I sold. Took about 2.5 hours with inspection, demo, and closing and made $2300 in commission on one sale that week. Never turn back, been in sales ever since. That was 7 years ago.

Exactly, Gotta stop being a consumer and start being a producer. Is where most people are falling short. I was in sales for over a decade before I figured out that everything I was selling for other people I could sell for myself.

I love the general advice provided, but it doesn't help folks go from 0 to 1. This advice helps somebody who is already at 1. Moving from 0 to 1 is the hardest step in business. Advice on the part of a company's life cycle would be very helpful.

Best part is when you get other people to sell your product for you. I hated doing my own sales.

However there is a stark difference between a 500 dollar sale, and 500 profit. 500 dollar sale probably wouldn't really be near as profitable.

Once you can put a monetary value on your free time, you start to realize it's not that crazy to pay people to do stuff for you or to pay extra to save time.

I sell my own services. It’s a lot easier to do so when the product is essentially yourself and your own work ethic, and you believe in yourself.

On Thursday I made a $39, 000 sale. 2 hours.
This morning I made an $8, 000 sale. 45 minutes.
Never in my LIFE! 😅😀

it depends how you look at things but this perspective won’t work if you seek to achieve blissful fulfillment and happiness. if all you care about is maximizing your profit every waking hour of everyday in your life then this is for you but don’t think if you’re not doing that you’re not a high achiever or “average”, i believe you should work hard and try to provide an amazing life for you and those you love but not at the expense of experiencing the humanity of life

Wow so cool, just determining how valuable every person is based on how much money you can siphon from them
