Dude really broke it down and simplified it. Seems like locating the knock sensors and cam position sensor are the main things that set the gen 3 apart from gen 4s. Anyone watching this video is gonna know a gen 1 when they see it. Awesome video

How many of these identifiers can you see when the engine is still in the car or truck?

if this is identifying LS blocks, why would you include gen 1 small blocks in this? those were not LS engines, just upgrades overtime from the original 1955 small block v8. the LS is a clean sheet design so you should not be including a "gen 1" small block. The original LS 1 was introduced in the 90s in the corvette and that's what started the LS family of engines

Ls engines are gen 3 and gen 4 of the Chevy small block, gen 1 and gen 2 (Lt-1and Lt-4) where traditional V8s. Gen 5 of the small block is the new LT1 and LT4. LS onmy came in gen 3 (LS1 and LS6) and gen 4 ( LS2, LS3, LS7, LSa, and LS9) ect.

I got an LQ9 with over 200, 000k on it. Runs great. No problems what do ever. I was just wondering if it would be safe to maybe turbo it up?

Thank you

Thanks, you discuss the "GENS" but I have come across a difference between connecting rod bolts. Apparently there was a first and second design how do i determine that?

If the engine was 2010+ how does the number looks like? For example D2416 that means April day 24 year 2016 is that correct???

Dear Summit Racing, I thoroughly enjoy these informative videos but I find they’re usually to short. Maybe make a secondary series of longer more in depth video 🤙

I’m going to do a swap on a 2005 Colorado. I’m considering using a 5.3. What’s the difference between 5.3 in a car or truck? Where can I get list of parts needed?
