Nothing sinister happened. Title is a bit misleading. A power outage occurred. Those stacks burn off excess to prevent an explosion from build up during power outage. You witnessed a functioning safety system at work. My husband works there.

What a garbage misleading title. Flare stacks burning off chemicals to reduce pressure. Doing what they were designed to do.
