I am an iPhone user and when this was announced I was so happy. I don't care about the color or anything but I love apple finally listened. It is super nice as I talk to quite a few with android phones among a few companies and will make the chats a lot better with better quality photos sent and read receipts. Awesome time!

As an iPhone user that installed the iOS 18 beta, and has RCS, I now know the inconveniences that come with having someone on SMS in a group chat.

Here's the thing though: unless this is turned on by default with iOS 18, this isn't going to change much. Good luck trying to get iPhone users to do anything that isn't the default

I swear, if apple doesn't turn this on by default, no one will do it. We all saw that Marques video, most teen just go by the default, only us tech savvy's don't.

These changes are needed for security and stability and innovation. A reminder that SMS dates back to the 1990s and builds on the technology of pagers, and basically every non-iPhone user, including authentication servers, that wanted to message iPhone had to do so using the technologies of SMS, rather than the newer RCS agreed on by carriers.

The European Union (EU) has played a role in pushing Apple to adopt RCS. 📱 They did the same thing by pushing Apple to adopt Type C as standard connection type for mobile and portable devices 💻

Still waiting on Google Voice support... I'm all for making RCS work cross-platform, but I wish you'd spend as much effort making it work on your own platforms as you do worrying about whether it does on your competitors'.

I had a group of friends, all with iPhones, who tried to get me to switch just because of the problems listed here. I said "It would be more logical to ask you all to switch to Android" lol, fairly. Now we can all be happy 😁
