Yup I have to agree I used Winsor and Newton water mixable oils and now I use Cobra water mixable oils. I love Cobra and have painted lovely portraits with them no problem ❤️👍🏽 Cobra water mixable oils don’t smell at all. Winsor and Newton water mixable oils still smell very strong for water mixable oils. That’s the main reason I switched 👍🏽. Nice review thanks 🙏

Winsor & Newton always wins for me! Your videos on water-mixable oil paint is right one time because I recently acquired a few deeply discounted tubes from my local art supply store. I've only ever painted with watercolors, gouache and acrylics because no solvents and easy clean-up. I'm looking forward to working with these and loving your educational shorts on them, so thank you for sharing your expertise!

I use Artisan & Cobra together, I have no issues with them being mixed. I use them with Schmincke medium W. found this combination to be perfect for my highly detailed paintings.

Leslie, good comparison except for using the Artisan medium. I strongly recommend using only the same brand medium. E.g. Cobra medium with Cobra paint.

Another point is that my experience with using the Artisan medium with Cobra and Daniel Smith produced horrible results. Try using the same medium/paints combo and you should see different results.

I started out committing to WN Artisan and bought 8-10 tubes, which I now regret. Bought a few tubes of Cobra to test them out, hearing that they were much more buttery and easily mixable with water (without gumming up), and I am sold. Also tried a few tubes of Lukas Berlin because they were on sale and although they're fine, I don't like them as much as Cobra. Haven't tried Daniel Smith, and while they have a good name, see no reason to use them. My goal is to use up all the WN Artisan paints I have and replace them with Cobra.

I’ve tried Artisan and Cobra, though only a little occasionally and I like both.

Till now I only used the Cobra. It is fantastic. No smell at all & and easy to clean with cleaning soap for brushes based on pure vegetable brand Da Vinci.

Hi! I have a question... I noticed my Cobra Titanium White has an environmentally hazardous logo on it, can you explain what it means, and what should I do to avoid any damages? Thank you in advance! ❤

Thanks for the comparison. I tend to be attracted more by Daniel Smith. But I need to know if they smell .

I'm super interested in the Schmincke Norma Blue line (since I love their watercolors so much). Have you tried the Norma Blue water mixable oils yet? Thanks for the great videos!

I’m a fan of Holbein Duo water soluble oils. Let me know what you think if you try it.

I am not sure if you should cast a doubt on paints, purely because they do not agree with your painting style, being thicker than what you would paint with is a subjective position, I prefer my paint to be thicker, easily let down if I want thinner, easily thickened if I need. What I need is only how much pigment is in there and the stability of the paint, for your buck, surely.

Just FYI, the Daniel Smith Water Mixable oils were discontinued in December of 2023, per their website.
