Who doesn’t love bacon? Who doesn’t love maple syrup? Combine the two, cook in the oven and you have such a delicious combination of sweet and savory flavours along with a great crispy, crunchy texture!

This dish is actually a riff off of candied salmon that I grew up with in British Columbia, but that’s a story (and video) for another time. Basically, I coat the bacon with maple syrup and cook for a bit, then flip and coat the other side with maple syrup, and then repeat a few times. It works with either thick cut or thin cut, but if using thin cut bacon, watch carefully as after 20 minutes it can quickly overcook.

Also a special shout-out to my (boat) neighbor Jack for the delicious Adirondack maple syrup that comes from his upstate farm!

Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think!

Recipe below:

Maple Candied Bacon

1 lb bacon beef (thick cut is preferable)
1/3 cup maple syrup
Freshly ground cracked pepper
