Let’s begin the test.
STEP 1: Setup
-First, disinfect the surface you will be using.
-Then wash your hands. If soap and water aren’t available, use hand sanitizer
STEP 2: Flowflex COVID-19 Antigen Home Test - PREPARATION
-The test we will be using is Flowflex COVID-19 Antigen Home Test. There are other brands of tests available, so be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instruction for your specific test.
-Next, remove the test kit from the box and lay it out
-Inside the box you will find: a Test Cassette, Extraction Buffer Tube and a Disposable Nasal Swab and the Flowflex COVID-19 Antigen Home Test Instructions.
-You will also need a timer and a tissue which is not included in this kit.
-Read the manufacturer’s instructions thoroughly if you can read English or Spanish before you begin.
-Open up the Cassette and Disposable Nasal Swab from its pouch.
-Punch through the perforated circle on the test kit box to form a tube holder. Place the tube in the tube holder
-Peel off and remove the foil from the top of the extraction buffer tube and set aside.
STEP 3: Test Procedure - SWABBING
-Insert the soft end of the swab about three quarters of an inch into the 1st nostril
-Pressing gently against the inside of your nostril, turn it gently at least five times. Total time swabbing of the nostril should take approximately 15 seconds
-Repeat process in 2nd nostril. Again, time swabbing of the nostril should take approximately 15 seconds
-Try to get the swab as wet as possible while rotating it in your nose.
-Good job! The hard part of the test is over.
STEP 4: Test Procedure – TESTING
-Immediately place the soft part of the swab inside the tube till it reaches the liquid.
-Stir with the nasal swab stick for 30 seconds, be sure to use a timer. It is important that you stir for the entire 30 seconds.
-Next rotate the swab 5 times while squeezing the tube.
-Remove the swab while squeezing the test tube. Dispose the swab in the trash.
-Screw the dropper tip onto the tube firmly
-Mix thoroughly by swirling or flicking the bottom of the tube
-Gently turn the tube with the dropper tip downwards and hold vertically.
-Squeeze the tube gently and dispense 4 drops of solution into the sample well. Dispose the tube in the trash.
STEP 5: Test Procedure – RESULTS
-Set your timer for 15 minutes and wait. Your results should be read at 15 minutes.
-At 15 minutes read your test results in the Test Cassette window.
-If your test is positive, isolate at home, away from other people, for ten days.
-Tell your household members and close contacts that you have tested positive and that they should get tested too.
-Talk to a health care provider to help you determine next steps and answer any questions.
-If you followed all the instructions carefully and test negative, that means you’re probably not sick with COVID-19.
-However, it is possible for a test to sometimes give a false negative.
-If you’re concerned because you were exposed or have symptoms, we recommend isolating and taking a second test after 36 to 72 hours to double check your results and make sure you didn’t get a false negative.
