The Honda of Canada Manufacturing (HCM) plants in Alliston are built on 450 acres (1.8 km2) of land and have their own recreation centre with a full NHL-sized hockey arena, physical fitness areas, a baseball diamond, and volleyball and tennis courts. The large cavernous plants require radios between members for communication and cold water chillers for HVAC systems.

Currently, the two main plants have approximately 4,600 employees and have an annual capacity of 390,580 cars per year. Plant 1 was built in 1986. It is the first Canadian manufacturing facility by a Japanese automaker. A stamping and bumper painting line was added in 1989. Production of the Civic coupe commenced in 1993. Honda's second plant in Alliston began production in 1998, originally building Honda Odyssey vans for the 1999 model year. Production of the Odyssey in Canada stopped in 2004 to make room for the Ridgeline.[4] Production of the Honda Pilot in Canada stopped in 2007 to allow Civic sedans to be built in Plant 2.

In May 2006, Honda announced it would build a CA$154 million engine plant in Alliston to supply about 200,000 engines a year for the Civic model. The plant opened in 2008. The plant has capacity of 260,000 four-cylinder engines.

I worked at HCM for 27 years, but retired 10 years ago. I worked on the line on a few production Saturdays and let me tell you, the work is tough! I would almost feel guilty going back to my cushy office job the next Monday :) My 2008, 2012 and 2019 Civic Si's were built here.

Honda has two manufacturing branch companies and one research and development branch in China. The manufacturing factories are joint ventures known as DongFengHonda corporation and GuangQiHonda. The researching sector is short named as EGCH. Each of both manufacturing factories has capacity of producing 1067 brand new vehicles in a single day. The production rate is more than any other Honda factories in the world. Our company is Hirotec. As the equipment manufacturer and provider of Honda company. It has project experience of providing dozens of new jig and fixtures and production lines to Honda as well as completed multiple type changes and upgrades to existing production lines. The manufacturing equipments and factory layout of this Honda factory locates in Canada looks very similar to its counterparts in China.

Cars manufactured in Canada has inferior paint compare to Japan made. There are sometimes bubbles under the paint. Assembly sometimes misaligned.

Such a BORING job, no wonder the workers are SO disinterested in what they are doing. Does not look good on Honda, imo. And yes, I own a Honda (2024 CR-V).
