The Desperate Last-Ditch Efforts to Save Opportunity

After months of trying and failing to contact opportunity in the usual way, NASA decided to attempt a series of high-risk last ditch efforts to save opportunity.

In the video these efforts will be explained and then we will talk about the achievements of the opportunity mission.

They need to make a movie where opportunity wakes up and Mars is colonized but it keeps going with its mission

I hope Opportunity remembers and acknowledges that before he turned off.

From birth he worked without reason without question, he did that for 14 years . They prophecied he would die in 9 months but he denied his fate, broke out of it. Through Strom, through wind so sharp it shreds the rocks, through freezing cold of night. He went on, to his last percentage of battery. How could you not feel emphathy from something like that even if its a robot

I just find it fascinating that Oppy actually sent data that translated to “My battery is low, and it’s getting dark.” It just makes its even sadder to know that out of everything it could’ve sent, it sent that

"MY BATTERY IS LOW AND IT'S GETTING DARK" That was such a poignant message from Oppie. I felt so much sympathy towards the little battler who has survived so long in an extremely hostile environment. Although I know it's a machine, I can't help wishing that somehow a miracle will occur and it will spring back to life and let us know all is well. I wonder if the dust storm coated Oppie's solar panels, preventing re-charging? If so, finger's crossed a Martian wind will eventually blow it clear and it will carry on exploring for us. If not, Rest peacefully knowing that you've achieved more than you set out to do. WELL DONE LITTLE ROBOT,

Maybe it was resting in a small hole, and it got almost completely buried, with the solar panels covered. Hopefully we can go find it in the 2030’s.

A friend of mine once came with the idea that when Mars is completly colonized, this Marsrover should be in a martian museum.

Mars is extremely empty... It's like one giant empty desert of earth.

This always makes me cry. Our. Rovers are like the first children from earth finding wonder on Mars. Spirit and Opportunity were there for a huge chunk of my life. And I hope we can rescue them one day.
