Monolithic Dome Framing and progress

Update on our build progress. The framing and sheathing is finished (except exterior sealing because it is too cold) for all but the large opening. We managed to finish priming the interior and put pull ropes in for all the electrical in the shell. Building the framing and sheathing was slow going because of the irregular nature of the openings. Also note that none of the wood walls are load bearing so our framing doesn’t need to follow normal framing rules. We are just building walls to house windows and doors.

I'm in the planning stages of my Torus dome currently and have already taken the class in Italy, TX, and was fortunate enough to meet David South before his passing. I would love to learn more about how you're handling the heating and cooling needs of the dome, and things that you've learned that would help along the way.

Awesome ! I can’t wait to see the outside!

What is the cost of carrying such a project ?

Happy new year !

That's why it is better to design the doors and windows into the airform.

Thanks for the ongoing posts of your project - very instructive. Curious how much floating and/or troweling of the interior shotcrete was done by you or your dome-builder. Appears from the video that the shotcrete rebound was smoothed, or shaved, but also that the surface is still somewhat irregular.
