Woodworking Tip - Angles for a T Frame Cross Brace

As mentioned in the video, I know this sounds super simple to everyone, but still wanted to share the simplicity of it. I grew up doing carpentry. I've cut these braces countless times. Yet I found myself sitting here trying to figure out what angles I needed. Once I realized it I was almost embarrassed that I didn't realize it sooner. So I figured I'd share my embarrassment with the world.

Thank you. I was getting WAAAAYYY too "Engineeringish" trying to figure out how to make sure my storage shelves were plumb, square, whatever. As long as I have bracing with angles totalling 90-degrees in each corner, it'll go a LONG way to keep it from racking the way it is. Thank you!!!

Hahaha It's crazy how much I was overwhelming this. always just stuck to the 45° because everytime I tried anything else I was just forcing the brace. thank you for the videos sir

I am the worst at math. Your tip made the difference with the amount of scraps I had to make some quick shelves to clear up thr garage. Thanks.

So my high school geometry finally has a use! Thanks so much-building a frame for rug tufting and the frame tutorial gave no dimensions so your video gave me priceless information to build the brace that I'm sure I'll use again.

I was actually looking for this specific video, not stupid at all. I'm a beginner and no one actually explain this

I know this video is old but if you read this, THANK YOU !!!! IDK why I needed to hear that, shouldn't of needed to, but obviously I did....I've been fumbling around trying to figure out a way to know what angles I needed to cut to get the cross brace to slide into the notch I cut out and it was impossible to scribe a line in there....I can mark the one angle from the exterior and NOW I know the the complementary, just remembered that would also angle again !!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have just started woodworking at 72 and Angles and I do not work. At my school a couple of years ago we never did Geometry, the English system and yours were miles apart, or I went to a crap school, lol. So, a BIG thank you for helping this old lady get the legs on.Lucy

Dude, superb. I'm pretty decent with math myself, but haven't done geometry in years. But indeed, this makes total sense and I'm overjoyed that I clicked on this video. I was just about to do these types of shelves and you may have saved me some much needed time designing and measuring. Keep teaching and learning. Thanks!!!

Thanks! Getting into woodwork! Wasn't the greatest in math and wouldn't of come up with what you explained except thru trial and error. It is one of those things you go, "DUH" afterwords!
