Hello,

Hang on ! If learning Chinese at 24 is being "late to the game", I, in my 50s, must have missed the final whistle, never mind the one for half-time. 😀 That's not going to stop me, though.

Great content. Subbed!

I've found that some words, even more complex ones when reading, stick in my mind very quickly, while easier ones take ages to remember well.

Best way ive found to learn chinese is to watch a tv episode (max like 30 minutes) once with english subs then immediately afterwards watch it again with chinese subs.

Hi Fred, great to see you posting again. I agree with a lot of your comments. As someone of advancing years, and who has studied Mandarin off and on, most of the major problems is trying to be perfect with your writing and tones. I often feel an idiot why trying to say something in Mandarin in a restaurant or takeaway. A second problem is that a lot of textbooks don’t seem to teach slang. They sometimes seem quite artificial in their approach. Looking forward to your next video.

If you are only good at listening/speaking Chinese but not reading/writing it, people will call you '文盲', which is a very bad description for a person. Chinese is very different from English, and you must have a certain level of character skills.
