Introduction to Quality Measurement

CMS oversees the collection of health care quality data with the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR), EHR Incentive Programs, and Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). By converting quality measures to eCQMs (electronic clinical quality measures), CMS is aligning quality improvement with other health IT advances to help providers offer better, more streamlined care.
