Thanks for another great vid! I'm one of those freaks that loves tracking my inventory in a digital spreadsheet with all the details you mentioned you track on physical paper. Either way is correct. And not doing so is correct for those that don't like tracking the details. Sometimes I get as much enjoyment looking over my spreadsheet and all the data as I do looking over my stack. Appreciate you channel so very much.

Keep a logbook for each asset class (gold book, silver book, platinum book, copper book, real estate book) these get filled in (depending on how many transactions to transfer, of course) from your main raw logbook (as you show in the video). From these logs you will be able to construct your own buying and selling charts to know exactly where you are, especially if you overlap asset charts and times overtop to see the markets. When it comes to your office paperwork it is best to keep it separated 🎼. Best to do things in duplicate in case of a freak boating accident. Great Video btw ☮

Spreadsheet. Tabs by year. Columns for purchase date, invoice number, qty, total weight (silver), total weight (gold), standardized descriptions for sorting purposes, cost for 1, total cost, company name. I also track total purchases by company which is easy to do with the way my spreadsheet is set up. I do this for two reasons, but the main reason is to occasionally demonstrate my appreciation for a particular LCS who gives me outstanding service. When they do something really nice, I copy the firms, number of orders and total spent in the current year and send it to them with a comment like “this is why you get 90%+ of my business.”

I keep two dollar cost average spreadsheets. One for gold one for silver. It includes spot/ ounces/ premium/ where bought from. It calculate total ounces, average dollars per ounce and when you change todays spot total cash value adjusts. It also has sell section and when I sell any for more the I paid it lowers my "out of pocket" dollar cost average.. It's like a challenge to sell something when premiums or spot are high and buy on dips.

Great Content, Stateside 🌞 We are personal private bankers now - so, yes, it's a good idea to keep a ledger to.keep track of inventory:)
Happy Father's Day & Thanks again!

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Father's Day! Will you consider a video covering the difference between the terms spot, melt, bid, sell price etc?

I don't keep track of what I paid for my metal. When I buy metal, whether bullion or a collectible, I feel like the price was fair, or I wouldn't have bought it. Once I have it, I don't worry about what I spent.

Thank you for the video. Been stacking g & s for two years and has gotten out of hand. Been struggling to get things organized on a spreadsheet but get overwhelmed when I look at it all. Hell, I’m not completely sure of what all is there. Especially on the silver side of the house. Generic, sovereigns and collectibles. There must be a template spreadsheet out there somewhere. I guess I just need to search a little harder. I at least have every single receipt but that’s what creates my procrastination. It’s a tall stack of paper. Ugh!!! Maybe I go with one of the earlier comments…if you can keep track of it you’re not buying enough. 😂.
Love your channel, Sir. Keep ‘em’ coming!

Yeah man! Same here. I even try and break myself from separating (for example) 1/10oz gold in to countries/mint. Now for my rounds I break them down to ugly birthday, anniversary themed generic/vintage/possible semi collectable/ nice detailed/ and all are in separate tubes. Ugh I am always going through tube after tube to locate which of the 30-40 half full/full tubes. I always print out my dealer invoice and stack the sheets by the years. I may be ocd

I started stacking 16-months ago and have recorded everything you mentioned in a notebook. Those records have come in handy on multiple occasions, if for nothing more than comparing to current pricing for curiosity's sake.

Enjoyed the content this morning, definitely important to keep the details to track over the months or years. Have a good week Brother $

I hand write mine. I also make sure to add the premium to the list of things to keep track of.

Hi Stateside, thank you for the vlog. Just keeping track of my purchases similar to what you are doing in an Excel spreadsheet. Keeping track also of the spot price at the time of purchase. Happy Father's Day!!

International stacker has a spreadsheet online to keep track of purchases. I took his and modified it to make it even better.

I use Excel to keep track of precious metals purchases. My spreadsheets are set up to mimic the IRS Capital Gains/Losses form. When tax time rolls around I can easily calculate my gains or losses.

I try to buy more than I can keep track of. If you can keep track of what you buying, u not buying enough.
