This is excellent advice! In 2016 I read the book "The One Thing" and started implementing this approach to focus 100% on my career as an animation writer. Out of curiosity, I've just reopened my goal-setting document from 2016, and, to my surprise, I'm on track with most of the goals. The two I'm most proud of are "launching the YouTube channel" and "writing animated feature films".

Man thanks for the reminder! Made me check my list again and to evaluate them because it's been a while. Sometimes I get distracted by shinier stuff along the way while implementing my plans to reach said goals.

I have goals but I'm really struggling with doubts. I started to learn art with the goal of entering the animation or game industry when I was around 25 years old. It was a very late start unfortunately. I have just turned 32 and for the past 7 years I was working non-art related jobs while learning and making arts. I feel like I've come a long way with my skills but since I was taking on a lot of commissioned illustrative works, I still don't have a job ready portfolio for the area that I'm interested in which is visual development. I'm proud to look at my progress, when I started it was hard to imagine that I could have made money with my art at all. However, as I got older, now I feel like I'm not sure if it's worth it to continue to pursue my "dream"...If I continue to prioritize this goal over financial stability job security and even my personal life, even for 1 or 2 more years, would it really be worth it at the end? I'm not very optimistic about animation industry as it feels like artists are often under valued overworked and deemed very replaceable, and now especially with AI. I'm about to give up on the goal to work in the industry...and ngl I cried multiple times for it. I wish I had a mentor or someone I could talk to, especially about finance and job prospects...

I’ve always struggled with have solid goals ._. It does feel like I’ve been riding on chance and opportunity so far. It’s actually been pretty good though so far, I’ve tried some things I never expected to do and actually like it. But still can’t picture myself in 10 years time solidly, other than to be a better artist.

BTW, AI is now going viral while we all know it is actually illegal bcs they use thousands of artist' work as reference illegally.. Can you talk about this?
