AGODA Hotel Customer Service: Watch Out!

I had booked my hotel reservation on Koh Samet in Thailand once I arrived to the island. I went to I check-in thirty minutes later, but there was no staff.

There was a sign to call the phone number after hours. I called, but the manager refused to let me check in and kept yelling "do you know what time it is"?

I was upset when the hotel manager yelled at me, hung up on me, and then turned off her phone.

The hotel should have been manned 24 hours, and when I couldn't check-in Agoda should have simply canceled the reservation and refunded my money right away. And I should have never been offered Agoda credit.

It took me right about three hours to get my money back with Agoda. It is a shame Agoda didn't take care of me right away when this happened and I had to wait until the next day until they could finally talk to the hotel.

Imagine what happened to me. I booked a room from Agoda for November 2019 in phnom penh, bout 6 months before departure. 4 months after, i got late flight and was scheduled 7pm arrival. I sent a 3 times messages to guest house that I've booked. When I arrived in phnom penh, then tried to find my guest house, guess what? There was no guest house that I've booked, I used my GPS and tuktuk driver used his too to find out where the location was. The location was right but no guest house over there. I asked to locals, no one can speak english. Damn. I tried to call agoda, there was no Cambodia number operated. I sent an email to agoda, you know, email won't be responded as quick as I wish. They replied to my mail next day. Lucky me, a local told me, the guest house that I was looking for, it had been closed several months ago. Why agoda didnt tell me!!?? I realized, agoda never check what they sell to customers. In the end, agoda refund my credit and give $1 for compensation. Very funny

Thanks for sharing Jason. People need to know this. It’s totally unacceptable IMO. I’m a NY native, but live in Florida. I plan on visiting Thailand, so I enjoy watching your videos. I love all your videos. You give me travel envy 😂

Sorry you had that problem. Fortunately my experiences have been different with Agoda. I have had several problems before and received full refunds back to my card with them. I usually use Agoda for the majority of my hotel stays when in Thailand, Philippines and Cambodia with several comparisons between them, Expedia and a few more sites.

Why waste your time with them? Go straight to your credit card company for the refund.

I agree it's bullshit but I don't really think it's worth wasting all that time for that amount of money. As soon as you realized the hotel was a shitty situation, hit Airbnb or another hotel right away.

Awful hotel how they handled it and Agoda should def have been more helpful bc this was horrible, eventhough eventually they solved it. My experiences have been reasonably positive with Agoda Customer Service. And I also actually had a similar experience at a hua hin hotel where nobody was present while in the morning i confirmed to the hotel my arrival time. However the manager did eventually come after some confusion. Turned out they mistakenly gave my room to another tourist that arrived without reservation, thinking it was me. Hotel dealt with it great, they just gave me a better room for the same price, so that was awesome!

If I went through that, and then was told I could o my have Agoda Cash, I would have lost my shit.

That's the same thing as saying, "Sorry for your non-existent hotel room, to make up for it we're going to give you one week of our non-existent presidential suite."

I refuse to book via booking sites. I alway get a good deal and better service when booking direct with the hotel.

i did a reservetion and paid, and then the hotel send me a mail, , telling me that they were going to take my reservation into account, but it was subject to the availability that they had at that time.now i cant book a flight, cuz I do not know if when I arrive they will tell me that there are no rooms available, tomorrow im goin to call the hotel, but i alredy know, i have t0 cancel, and i h0pe they refund me
