Pakistan should not be softcornering to Washington. We see Pakistan and US military chiefs shaking hands. So is Islamabad showing her smiles to Washington. Pakistan should also ensure security of chinese workers in projects.

CPEC is a great success. Gwadar has grown into a major port rivaling Dubai. Chinese engineers are safe in Pakistan and loved by Baloch people. CPEC is minting money, and Pakistan is becoming the next Asian tiger. This is all due to the honest and selfless leadership of Pakistani politicians and the establishment. Long live the great leader Xi Jinping.

This guy Shuja Pasha, brother of former Pakistan Army Chief, living filthee rich life in USA with all the loot his family has laundered, and his typical mindset is still stuck in past that India cannot grow without Pakistan and Pakistan is too important for India. When you this type of so called experts, then you easily imagine why Pakistan is bankrupt financially as well intellectually & morally !!

With the rampant corruption in Pakistan, the overpowering military and the unstable preceding and current governments, the challenge is extremely difficult. China is probably prepared to do more but with whether and for how long this government would even last and looking at how the military along with this government hijacked Imran Khan’s government, trust and comfort is probably quite low. It does not help that the Pak side plays all side—which is OK to deal with, so long as there is stability and the KPIs/milestones are met. But as the speakers said, deadlines are all behind schedule. Then there is the security issue…if the Pakistanis cannot protect and provide safety for the wellbeing of the Chinese engineers and executives who come to work with their counterparts, then people are not going to be willing to come to work on these projects, which is a lose-lose situation. The Pakistan side need to show their commitment in this aspect and provide concrete guarantees. Unfortunately, this is where the CIA and western agencies work on scuppering the partnership and by causing chaos, to the extreme of regime change, as we saw with Imran Khan. The Pakistani side really needs to do more and try to stabilize their internal situation to make things a success. All the ingredients and basic foundations are there and have been placed…it would be a shame for all the stakeholders, ultimately for the benefits of the peoples of Pakistan, if the CPEC projects don’t take off as fast as they should. Please get on with it.

You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him
Pakistan needs to get its act together. The right thing to do would be to start distancing itself from the US, and turn eastward and focus on economic development.

2 billion dollars exported by Pakistan and 20 billion dollars exported by China is a crazy high imbalance. Hope china can support Pakistan people and business by importing more of their products. No point just to keep giving loans and further giving loans which will just end up making it too hard to pay back.

Also the thought of Pakistan needs to either choose China or USA feels pretty ridiculous. China hasn't cut ties or hasn't stopped doing business with USA then why should Pakistan. People need to stop spreading divisions and try to work together.

Pakistani minister says Pakistan will be center of trade and commerce?!?! For that to happen Pakistan will have to first dismantle its terror infrastructure and stop being the global center of terrorism by blaming others or conspiracy theories for their own destructive policy. China can do little to help Pakistan change its radical Islamic ideals like it does in Sinkiang with the Uygurs though not sure if that Chinese Communist Party policy is successful and only time will tell. The Pakistan China brotherhood is not about true or real friendship but more a matter of convenience and an alignment against their common enemy India. In fact Pakistan which protests world wide against India for Kashmir, donated Shaksgam area of occupied Kashmir to China out of fear after seeing what Mao did to India in 1962. No doubt it was a practical solution by then Pakistani dictator General Ayub coz in return China gave Pakistan the atom bomb and missile technology in violation of all ethical norms or global treaties with a deliberate blind eye by the global policeman. Since its creation in 1947, the US has and will always bail out Pakistan for whatever reason, blackmail or lie. China aspires and copies the US (baring freedom and democracy) and wants to be in that league but just cannot; coz loans is not what Pakistan needs. It needs grants and free money along with a sense of Islamic identity (to justify its existence) that is amply provided by the Saudis and UAE time to time; not mentioning it's new emerging partner Turkey. The imperialist British plan post World War II was to create a buffer state by partitioning India (through bloodshed & hatred) and create an artificial state with serious 'fault lines' that is wholly dependent and an ally for the West to use whenever required. Over the past 7 decades the plan has been working and funds are sent by the West as long as Pakistan performs their dirty tasks. China's intervention in Pakistan will naturally cause bigger geo political issues; deep down Pakistanis realize that their actual existence is dependent on the West (not even Arabs) even if they emotionally rant and claim their friendship with China is deeper than the ocean or higher than the mountains. The implications of this can inevitably lead to further dismemberment of Pakistan (after Bangladesh in 1971) into 3 nation states of Sindhudesh, Baluchistan and Punjabistan while the North West Frontier Province retuned back to Afghanistan and Gilgit, Azad Kashmir area appropriately merged with the states of Jammu Kashmir in India. Only then will there be peace along with trade &
