2022 VW Tiguan vs BMW X1 SDrive 20i Tech Edition: The battle of the entry level luxury SUVs!

Volkswagens have always tried to undercut their more fancy and “luxurious” counterparts from BMW and Mercedes. We double quoted luxurious because that isn’t always the case. Especially when it comes to these two, the new 2022 VW Tiguan 4Motion and the 2022 BMW X1 SDrive 20i. One is the entry level product for SUVs for BMW and the other is top end of what you can currently get in terms of VW SUVs in India. And these ideologies play a big role when it comes to designing these cars. The Tiguan is definitely the more tech infested car with the latest and greatest infotainment and clusters from VW and the only real way the BMW can claw back those advantages of the VW is by showcasing its superior interior finish and driving dynamics. Tiguan is wonderful car, it's total package, I used x1 for 6yrs (f48) now I feel what a car tiguan, one can buy blindly tiguan, my tigy is just 2wks old, my family is very happy about my decision selling x1 and buying tigy

I drove a BMW X1 (the 2 litre version) for 18 months. After which I bought a Volkswagen Tiguan and have had it for just 2 months. But I can say this I enjoyed the Tiguan better than the BMW X1. If someone wonders how the switch happened between the X1 and Tiguan after just 18 months. Well the answer is I had bought the X1 on my company lease, however, due to a merger in the company I decided not to keep the vehicle as I didn't want to end up as the 3rd owner. So I was going to get the new X1 (1.5 litre recasting of the X1) post the merger at my company. But someone recommended me to test the Tiguan, did it with very little enthusiam, but I am so glad I dd. I knew right after the 2 test drives, I was not going back to the new X1 (I test drove that as well, beautiful car with all the new features). But the Tiguan's perfoemance and price point just made it inevtable I bought the Tiguan so much so this time I didn't buy through the company lease but on my own as I will keep this car for the long run.

As per many reviews Tiguan suspension is very stiff and quite uncomfortable for rear passengers . In general VW cars are stiffly sprung. My Jetta is comfortable but not plush. So calling Tiguan ride plush might not be correct.

Wireless Car play and Android Auto and wireless charging pad could be retrofitted at least its still a VAG at the end of the day

VW for the win. BMW might have the fancy badge and road presence but VW is the family friendly all rounder SUV. Bmw is definitely not worth its price.

Did you notice any unusual clunking/thud noises from the front suspension over speed breakers and depressions in the road in the tiguan ? I have the tiguan since December 22 and am facing these issues. No solution from VW yet. Helpful if you can share feedback. Also it does not affect EVERY tiguan, which is my problem. They can't even say that every car has it.

A quiet Tiguan? They must have updated the 2.0TSI for 2022. My 2019 Tiguan with the 2.0TSI is anything but quiet.
