NIO is a BEAST, production will increase and deliveries will happen. I saw a video that was released yesterday of a person taking an ET7 test drive in San Jose at the head office. Stay strong for your fight Eric G. $NIO

I was in Guangzhou back in March.. everywhere was packed. There are gonna be some economic challenges everywhere, I won't be surprised if the sales number of Nio slows down.

the main issue that was not addressed in this video is that there is a ton of competition currently in China with many OEMs, including Tesla, making products that can compete quite well, at a lower price compared to NIO. If consumers are now preferring to put off higher cost purchase options and are buying the cheaper less well known, but equally valid competitor OEMs, what will be the reasoning or differentiating factors for them to switch back to NIO, once all said new models are available to purchase? Is there really a good reason to prefer a higher priced NIO if some other OEMs offer the same quality and technology content at a better price? What are you actually paying for in NIO, the option to be allowed to pay for battery swap ? Especially now that ultra fast charging solutions are evolving rapidly ? Using one of Erics anecdotes, that couple that bought the Tesla Model Y can charge their car from 10 to 80 % battery in less than 20 mins at any Supercharger. The same NIO ET5 to battery swap, provided you have a battery swap station nearby your home and are not waiting in line for another person to swap the battery, can do it realistically in about 8 mins (Aligning the car, parking, driving in etc etc). So are customers really seeing the benefit going for the NIO for the 12mins less time to refill on energy, with higher purchase price and with the added cost of the 1000+ RMB per month for the privilege to do so ? Customers in China might not be willing to spend too much now but they sure aren't stupid.

Hi Eric, thank you for sharing, especially on the local observation part. There are plenty of videos talking (bluffing) about how good Nio car is, but at the end of the day, it takes those who has money to buy one. I'm cautiously optimistic about Nio's sales recovery. ES6 should be a solid product but its pricing is still up in the air. Let's hope they can make it. Good luck to your upcoming competition. Keep us updated.

Super Long NIO!
Things could change abruptly by a few geopolitical or macroeconomic decisions; if the conflict in Eastern Europe ends by the second half of this year (with Chia’s peace initiative and per Henry Kissinger’s prediction), or once the US fabricated inflation stories change, or during the next presidential campaign (usually a good year for stocks) … many things are going to be affected in a positive way.

You have to compare the monthly battery swap cost with what it would cost to recharge the Tesla every swap is not just an extra cost with no benefit.
Also, as batteries change, the NIO owner doesn't have any battery anxiety...another factor. Personally I would pay a premium in this era where battery tech is changing.
You do have a point for the market for premium cars...but again it's like comparing apples to oranges somewhat. NIO's more direct competitor is, as you suggest, is LI Auto.

Talking from my own point of view. I'm huge Nio fan, bought ES8 in the begining of 2020 and looking to upgrade. New 2023 ES8 with the specs i want is 550k with BAAS 1680 per month. With 100kw battery is 650k, but that is not an option i would choose as I have free lifetime battery swap. HOWEVER, I have Li L9 for 460k, that is amost 100k difference. With the petrol consumption of L9 and my average milage per month i would need around 800rmb, less than half of the battery rent i would need to pay to Nio. Yes - 650hp compared to 450hp, better driving experience but damn, for the difference i can buy another ev just for grocerry shopping. Very similar story to ES7 vs Li L7 which i am also considering.

I love the service, i love the whole nio community deal and if the price difference is less than 50k i would still go for Nio, no second tought. But around 100k + 800rmb per month, i think they outpriced themselves. Waiting for Li to finally adds english language to their interface and will make a call. But so far it doesn't look good for Nio. And a bunch of people around me driving NT01 ES8 and ES6 that are looking to upgrade have the same or very similar opinion

What is not discussed is the maintenance costs over the life of EV'S vs ICE.
If maintenance or cost of buying and owning an ev has a significant advantage over ICE vehicles, then maybe the cost advantage of ev's will help sales?

If NIO would be a US brand...However, it is about dollar vs Rinminbi battle. NIO is still the most exciting all EV premium brand right now and has everthing what a skyrocket stock needs. But...

NIO should really address the crappy software, annoying NOMI and slow charging speeds. Once they do that and keep on expanding their infrastructure, everything will be OK. Long is the name of the game.

LI auto is selling while everyone else is struggling for the remaining crumbs bc LI really did the interiors right. Triple screen entertainment where 1 LI screen is already bigger than the NIO square screen, imagine having 3 of them. (No, NIO AR is not a solution. NIO AR is a joke. Imagine 3-4 ppl wearing AR to watch a movie in a NIO, that would be like a scene from dumb and dumber if you know what I mean.) Back passenger seats fold automatically at the press of a button. 25K in monthly deliveries says it all.
