Another wild week, with some notable chip stocks rocketing higher! But base material and energy, including suppliers to the semiconductor industry, isn’t so hot.

In this episode, Chip Stock Investors Nick and Kasey discuss the diverging paths chip patent licensor Arm Holdings (ARM) and natural gas, hydrogen, and industrial gas supplier Air Products and Chemicals (APD) took after their respective earnings reports. They also talk about if they’re buying either stock, and if not, when they might.

Both of these companies are foundational to the semiconductor and electronics industry. Enjoy learning how the world works via these two critical businesses, and how they plan to grow over the next five to 10 years!

You guys brought up a great point about softbank. Softbank owns 90% of ARM. so if they decide to sell their shares, ARM stock will go down I think

I have been following them for a long time and I love their videos. It simply strikes me that they talk little about TSM, ASML and Samsung, which are ultimately the ones that run the market. Designers come and go. Greetings and thanks!

Missing Nick's flamingo friday shirt.
You both put out excellent realistic analysis and picked up a ton of info on how to analyze a company/stock. Thank you

I’m a big fan of APD .. added more on the drop and brought my avg down nicely.. not a 1 month play here, long term hold

Thanks for the video. Does APD's reduced demand for helium for electronics have any read through for semi equipment makers, or is it a lagging indicator? In the earnings call an exec says "We are a great leading indicator" but that might be more about the global economy than the semi industry or semi-equipment.

Great earnings insight. I used the weak earnings report to start a position on APD. Very happy I waited and like the company long term.

Thank you for this video! What is your view on APD vs Linde vs Air Liquide and how come you opted for APD instead of what seems to be a better execution at Linde?

Great channel. Love Your videos. Arm's technolgoy is in more than 2 billion cellphones. How come the revenue is only 800 millon? It has major customers like Apple, Qcom etc. ARM makes money only licences and royalties. Don't understand how it makes only so little money. I hope You reply

Thanks for the great vid content!
ARM has been around forever!! However, I had no idea that they've only been a publicly traded company for less than a year. I have some
hmwrk to do!

There are large efficiency gains brought by ARM chips - see the macbook lineup since 2020 (performance & battery life). Windows & laptop providers have to transition to stay competitive - we should see ARM chips break into the laptop market and gain market share over the next 5 years

I love ARM long-term, but I was hoping to buy it at some point at ~30 forward/PE. Looks like that dream is dead. 😆
