Loved the podcast, but heavily disagree with the depiction of Ceasar throughout it. The only people hated Ceasar was the aristocracy. Although I agree with the fact that it was an easy way to get yourself killed and bad politics overall, Ceasar was very good to the ordinary people of Rome.

If you listen/read Caesar’s diary on the Gallic war and civil war, you don’t get the sense this man is a dictator but more like a savior.

Such a shallow take. All the powerful men in history are highly motivated by personal gain, so what? How does a Republic turn into an empire? You don't analyse the fundamental forces under the surface, just talk about personalities.
