This video isn't quite correct. The proper procedure is to do the following:

1) Drive vehicle until engine is at full operating temperature. Usually 15 minutes or 7 miles is sufficient in normal weather.
2) Bring car to a stop on a completely level surface and let it idle for one minute.
3) Begin check of oil level with engine idling.
4) Do not add oil unless directed. The MIDDLE of the gauge is your target. The top of the gauge is the maximum level before you are overfilling.

actually its not low.. its on optumum level.. beyond that its excessive amount and its not good..

i'm prety sure the two lines on the meter indicate minimum and maximum level.

When i do this on mine it shows the bar and the clock for like 6-7sec and then it just goes back to the start screen thing do I just wait and go to check again or what?

I have a 2011 e90 and the yellow oil light just came on today but after the car is shut off!??.I tried to check my oil thru the computer and it dont give me a reading. Just shows a clock going around n around

Once pressed the start botton release the fingers, u don't need to keep press it, also that way to check is for more bmw. I can say more.. but Better if I can keep quite.

does your fluctuate while you are driving ? I have an e85 with this kind of digital dipstick and when i run the car to temperature while sitting still in the parking lot ( flat ground ) the oil level goes to full and it reads OK, but if i check the level after driving around for a while, the level fluctuates - even going to the last 2 out of 5 levels. thanks !

Oil check isn't available on diesel models [dipstick only].

Hi glad I found this channel, just a quick query, so I own a e90 320d ( 2010) and when I got the car I used to get a fuel reserve warning at 100km range and a continuous low fuel warning with a caution symbol in the instrument cluster at 50 km range but somehow after few trips I'm not receiving those warnings anymore... Even after having only 96km range of fuel... Any idea why? And how to get it back ?? Pls help !!
