I finally managed to get my hands on an Enigma and spend enough time with it to get my opinion out there for everyone. This is another innovative product from Phlster that people need to take a close look at.

The Modwing on our holsters (as well as many other makers) come with eyelets in the holes for the wing, which reduces the play between the hardware and the wing. Folks who are using it with our holsters aren’t going experience much or any play in the system. We don’t recommend sanding the Enigma Faceplate because the material is a multi-layer textile and compromising the laser cut edge can potentially induce delamination.
I think all of your criticisms about the comfort issues are entirely fair. To keep it as absolutely durable AND low profile as possible, we had to make certain material choices which all leaned towards durability. We knew that users were going to have a range of tolerance for different comfort issues and in order to satisfy our strength, durability, and profile requirements, we knew that some users were going to have to address comfort at the individual level.

I’m glad to see someone else had an issue with the wobble play between the Enigma, the holster and the mod concealment wing. I used an NSR holster with my Enigma and really tightened the screws down (using the supplied islets too). Still I found a fair amount of movement and play while wearing this setup.

Your honest assessment of the enigma was well appreciated. Much needed on behalf because I also purchased one and now I set it up while knowing it will be a work in process.
Thank you for the links. Great job on the breakdown and evaluation. 😊

Great review! That was the first time that I’ve heard those concerns come up. I am also happy to see that PHLster responded to you.
Thanks again.

Appreciate this unbiased review. I'm new to concealed carry and have been considering the light bearing enigma. After doing a considerable amount of research, I believe I'm going to take a different route for now. Mastermind Tactics make a covert belt for $30 that works with virtually any kydex holster. I can definitely see an enigma in my future but for now I'm going to hold off on it.

Thanks for the video. I was going to get this model until you brought up a great point that I would want a dedicated holster for this. I love my eclipse holster and don't want to only use it with this. In the winter since I wear pants 99% of the time I would just wear a belt.

I think I will get the express even though I don't like the lack of proper sweat guard. I bought a We The People holster and trashed it for lack of a full sweat guard. In this case though I think I can live with the sacrifice.

I have only had my Enigma for a couple of weeks. I find it very comfortable. But for me the real advantage is deep concealment without hampering quick and easy access. No matter if I am wearing shorts, sweat pants, jeans or dress slacks. The fire arm is completely hidden. I can tuck my shirt in or leave it out. My Sig Sauer P365 XL with a Holosun HS507K red dot does not print.

Thanks for your objective review. You made a lot of good points. I’m very small in stature and the Enigma system is probably my best option for concealed carry. I bought 2 of them. One them I put on a papoose cover. Which works well however I rarely have it against my skin, I just about always have a t-shirt under the holster. I am going to check out the hardware you mentioned just to see how it works. Thanks.

Be advised.. While you're making your purchase, it's not really clear that you would need to add the spacer kit if you have an adjustable retention holster.
So when I recieved my Enigma in the mail and pulled up the instructions and started assembling it, my initial thought was that there were parts missing!! Then I watched the video and reallized that I should have bought the additional parts. I was extreamly annoyed by this. For one, it would have been an incredible waste of time if had to then order and wait for the spacer kit to arrive. (Luckily I had some standard washers laying around and I was able to make it work). But beyond that.. This thing was 90 bucks for the standard Enigma..
Come on... THROW THE DAMN SPACERS IN THERE FOR FREE!!! I mean how much could they cost to make.. Really..
That said, I do think it's a great product. Fit's well, It;s secure and it works better than I expected. As for the holter being against the skin, I find wearing it on top of a nylon tee shirt under the main shirt, takes care of any discomfort and/or chafing.
I would recomend it to anyone..
But again.. The spacer kit thing was REALLY ANNOYING!!
It really should be included. Build it into the price of the holster if you must.
But reallizing you need the extra parts while you're assembling the thing was rediculous!!

I appreciate the unbiased review, I’m looking at this system because I may be getting an office job and need a good deep concealment option

Good review. What is the level of comfort when sitting? Does it not gouge into the groin area? I don't have a super slim waistline, got just enough around the middle that makes me shy away from AIWB carry. Does this system negate my issues?

I dont see it anywhere but im pretty sure your supposed to wear this OVER a thin under shirt. Why would you were this thing with no breath ability between you and the composite frame? Great review and honest take of the pros and cons. Thank you

Thank you for putting this out there. Just ordered the Philster Enigma. I read that Tenicor worked and have 2. Wished I noticed that.

I recently ordered the Enigma and am excited to not have to worry about my holster when I 💩. It's always a weird thing in public to drop your pants with your holster. This is a non issue with the Enigma. 😁

Have you done an update video for this product after your modifications and using it for awhile? I’m a big man faced with a few issues, one of them is that I have no butt to hold up my pants and a belt doesn’t keep them up where I can safely carry concealed. I have changed guns that are smaller and weighs less to try to mitigate this issue and found the Browning Black Label .380 1911 but that created a new problem because there are no quality holsters designs for this gun. Any thoughts?

I stuck 3 different “teir one” wedges on my enigma and it’s the most comfortable holster ever now
