His point isn't that atheist hate God. It's that they've separated themselves from him. As a former apostate, I did rebel against God. It might have not seemed like hatred, but it was. I removed myself from the very being of love and only hatred was left. Thank God I found love again.

Atheism is a result of people who are not able to be convinced that God is real. Its not a choice whether you are convinced or not.

If the default is consciousness is primary, and we all make up a small part of that one consciousnes, then there is always connection to that whether a person calls it God, or Universe, or source, or the quantum field or whatever. We are in God and God is in us.

If you decide you are an atheist you don't believe there is a god, so you don't need a god after that. And it's not about hating god it's about belief
