As much fun as this looks, I don't care if it takes another 3 years to be finished. What this game offers for $30 is more than a lot of $70 games offer these days

So its kinda like Ark but with a less annoying taming method. Which is good. I liked Ark but my least favorite part of the game was having to sit around for like an hour or more to tame something whilst making sure it remained sedated and fed while protecting it from a raptor or whatever that came along.

If we're talking about craftopias track record. You can't leave out that they converted it entirely to open world recently. It used to be a map screen where you chose different level/biomes. So that is a good sign.

I’ve been monitoring this game and waiting on it for years. They have a YouTube channel for it that they update regularly, and have kept the vision the entire time. They are releasing exactly what they promised, and have this gem of an early access to show for it. I’m completely confident in it.

I think it's most similar to Conan Exiles, where you can capture enemies and make them work for you as thralls. And both games also have a mechanic where your base is raided ever so often by NPCs.

Thanks for pointing out the Craftopia situation. If I remember correctly the same thing also happened to the game before it (overdungeon), where the devs ceased post-launch updates to focus on developing Craftopia. However it appears that Pocketpair’s workforce have expanded now compared to the past and their previous games are getting updates again.

Happy to hear about the Steam Deck experience. Even though i have a gaming pc, I only use it for games I can't play handheld. I'm hoping the game is more likely to be completed because they've gotten money from Microsoft for Game Pass.

One of the reasons why Craftopia isn't doing so well and is barely getting updated is because of Palworld. They started development of Palworld and went all in on this game over Craftopia and decided to have a smaller team focus on Craftopia. That meant it took a long time for them to release their open world update and yeah you can tell with the quality of Palworld over Craftopia that most of the talent went here. So i would not be afraid of this game being abandoned especially with the praise its getting. Also to me $30 for countless hours of fun even at this stage is more than worth it even if it get neglected down the road.

This review is one of the best I have seen very fair and honest. Not talking about things that you don't fully understand. While still talking about the merits of the game. While also being able to address your fears for the future. I have seen so many reviews that are unfair and they show they lack understanding of core systems and game development.

I remember this being previewed on a Facebook post, and I was dying when I saw the characters and "pals" gunning down the big electric totoro dude back in 2020 I think and I can't wait for it to come to XBOX 😂

The problem i have with this game is the Craftopia point you made. A lot of the selling points of this game were things half heartedly tested in Craftopia and then refined and implemented for Palworld. Capturing animals. Guns. The seamless update. I really wish they just consolidated both games into one since the Craftopia world feels kind of empty at times.

But if this game has to exist, i really hope this game is in the same canon. A prequel to the opening of Craftopia would be pretty cool.
