Forecast from NBC 10 News Sunrise, Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025.
Watch out for a few icy spots early Sunday morning as temperatures hang near freezing across the interior. Dry weather briefly builds back this morning before a significant storm develops Sunday afternoon. Confidence is increasing for a widespread plowable snowfall across much of Southern New England, especially away from the immediate south coast.
Precipitation begins around 3 PM on Sunday with a mix of rain and snow at the start of the storm changing to all snow by dinner time Sunday evening. A widespread 4 to 8 inches is expected for Providence County and northern Bristol County Massachusetts, with potential for totals approaching the one-foot mark across central Massachusetts into Boston's MetroWest.
The south coast, including most of South, Newport, and Bristol counties is looking at 2 to 4 inches, with only 1 to 2 inches on the Cape and Islands where precipitation likely falls mostly as rain.
