Doesn’t an EQ pedal with volume control like this do the job of a preamp ? Is there need for a preamp even if you have this?

I'm new to bass effects and such so if I'm about to ask a noob question forgive me. I am trying to build my first bass effects pedal board and I am wondering will having an EQ such as this be best before or after a Compressor in the chain. Also would an EQ effect the compressor in any way? I am extremely interested in this MXR 10 band EQ and the MWR bass compressor.

there's a bass version of this pedal. is all gray.
