You absolutely made the right decision to postpone that cruise. Nothing is worth risking your life for and you would have been way too tired to enjoy yourself. Always trust your Instincts. 😊

Been there done that. 7am flight canceled out of Dallas in 2015 on our way to get on the NCL Getaway in Miami. Major flooding at DAL. Family jumped in our car and I drove 21 straight hours to our hotel in Fort Lauderdale. Arrived at 5:30am and was on the shuttle at 9am to Miami. Ended up being one of my favorite cruises I’ve ever taken.

Sorry you missed it. My husband and son missed their flight, in the middle of winter from Toronto, and still got in a car and made it in 24 hours. No regrets! It's doable with two people driving for sure.

I would have definitely drove! You had 2 adults it seemed who could have taken turns sleeping and driving. I have driven for 21 hours straight many of times from Michigan to Florida straight through. Super easy with another driver helping.

This happened to me a couple of years ago, going into orlando, I was able to get a flight into Tampa.And then rented a car and drove to port canaveral

We had a flight canceled, so didn't make our 18 day Alaska land cruise on HAL Nieuw Amsterdam June 30. BUT, what with the weather, fires in Denali, a train breakdown, and 4-5 ships in each of those tiny town ports, and getting back our money but maybe $2000, we don't feel bad. AND, like you said, we again were reminded, fly in a day ahead!

I live in Cape Canaveral and saw the Utopia Ship come in on its first day into Port Canaveral and yes, it’s a beauty! When flying into Orlando (MCO), late spring and during the summer…”Do not” book a flight that arrives anytime after 2:00 in the afternoon til early evening. The humidity builds up and it creates very bad thunderstorms. Ground crews can’t even be out in that weather. I have family that lives up north and I tell them, Do Not come in during that time. The earlier the better. A new cruise ship has to sail a few times to get the kinks out. You will end up having a better experience when you finally set sail. Keep the videos coming. You guys are “Rock Stars!”

I live in Tampa sop BIG suggestion for flying anywhere into Florida in the summer.
Always fly into Florida in the morning (NOT the day of a cruise ever) Most of our summer weather is in the late afternoon and evening.

another lesson....always have travel insurance....we always book two days in advance flights since we live in Canada we never know what weather we will
