A Lighthearted Baby Quilt! | Adorable fat quarter quilt for beginners

I'm attending a baby shower for a friend expecting a little girl, so naturally, I made her a quilt! Although I love this quilt and I can't wait to give it to her, the end result is far from perfect. I share how I problem-solved along the way and the lessons I learned as a result of my mistakes!

Your quilt is gorgeous. Don't worry about giving things with seams to people as there are seams all over the quilt. A lot of us piece our backings all the time. I was surprised to see no pins as you quilted. I don't think you need to apologize for it at all. The straight line quilting is amazing.

Such a cute quilt! I recommend using Kwik Klip for pin basting. And I use painters tape to secure the sides and top of the backing. Whenever I stray from that formula, it’s a risk. And don’t baste or FMQ when tired. I get lazy and there almost always is a mistake made.

Babies eyes don't reliably converge or diverge so...The quilt may look rectangular to the baby and ultimately that is who the quilt is for :). It's adorable. Good job. So brave with the minky. I do all my own quilting on a domestic. I have learned the beauty of "Fireside" instead of minky. No mess. comes in 60 in width so is perfect for Baby quilts and it is inexpensive. You don't have as big of a colour selection. FQS stocks it. See if you can see it in person before you order. It is very soft, but not as soft as minky. BUT no mess. It has been the biggest game changer for me.
