Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 2021 review - better than a BMW X5M?

This is the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S, and Mat’s on hand to see if this almighty SUV has what it takes to go head-to-head with the BMW X5M!

Given it's an AMG performance SUV, there’s one thing we need to address first - the engine! Peer underneath the GLE’s big bonnet and you’ll find a 4-litre twin-turbo V8, with the ability to put down 612hp and an almighty 850Nm of torque! It also drives all four wheels thanks to a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, and it’s claimed to be able to hit 60mph in 3.8 seconds.

So in the performance stakes, the GLE 63 can clearly go toe-to-toe with the best of them! But that’s not all - it can easily couple as a more than capable family car, too! With a gigantic 630-litre boot, coupled with a whole load of room in the back, you certainly won’t be short for space once you step inside this new SUV.

I can't find any fault with this vehicle. Interior is about as good as it gets. Best steering wheel in the game. Everything can be reached without going into the infotainment. The engine, the sound. It's marvelous
