► 2016 Mercedes GLC - OFFROAD TESTING

Mercedes-Benz presents the second generation of its mid-range SUV. The GLC retains its predecessor's outstanding off-road characteristics and combines them with an all-new design. What is more, the GLC takes comfort and agility to a whole new level: With the innovative multi-chamber air suspension AIR BODY CONTROL, unique to the segment, DYNAMIC SELECT and the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive, the new GLC is tailor-made for all driving situations on and off the road. State-of-the-art assistance systems and improved energy efficiency further support the new GLC's claim of setting a new benchmark in this segment. Compared to its predecessor, fuel consumption was lowered by up to 19%.

Four models are available at the market launch of the GLC, all featuring 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive as standard:
GLC 220 d 4MATIC, diesel, 125 kW (170 hp)
GLC 250 d 4MATIC, diesel, 150 kW (204 hp)
GLC 250 4MATIC, petrol, 155 kW (211 hp)
GLC 350 e 4MATIC, plug-in hybrid, system output 155+85 kW (211+116 hp)

A particular favourite which has now become something of a tradition is the Edition 1 model. At the market launch it will be available in a choice of two different interior variants - designo black or designo two-tone. Both versions offer the AMG sports steering wheel, ambient lighting, a black roof liner and the Seat Comfort package with heated front seats. The scope of delivery also includes the AMG Exterior Line with AMG titanium grey multi-spoke 50.8 cm (20-inch) wheels, two-pipe exhaust system, heat-insulating dark-tinted glass from the B-pillar rearwards and the traditional Edition 1 emblems on the wings. The GLC Edition 1 can be combined with all paint finishes and engine variants.

I like this crossover, cute and very luxurious, and i can assure u that it has a serious off-road capability

I would like to buy a version of this that has absolutely no off road gear. Just a fuel efficient engine, snatzy interior, and the ride quality that mercedes gives. That's it. I won't ever go off-roading and the occasinal rain I see in socal doesn't require 4x4(or hell, bet I can get by with just 1 driven wheel...) Rest is just money thrown down the drain.

Here's a few things about this car that don't make any sense.
1. Most people who will lease/own this "car" will NEVER take it to an area like this for any reason. (It's a Benz crying out loud! No one wants to pay Benz money and then scratch it up while going off the beaten path.)
2. Most drivers of this car will be women, and no offense, most women would even attempt anything like this. 
3. This is a car, not a Jeep Wrangler. (If someone from Mercedes-Benz sees this, you need to stop putting so much effort into making a car into something that it was clearly not meant to be. 
4. Lastly what good is all of this "testing" when this like many other, "Luxury Crossovers" a simple 35 to 45 degree angled hill covered in wet grass will leave you looking like the Little Train That Couldn't?

I am sorry Mercedes, i love this car, but it's not an off-road hero.
