(-3)^2 = 3^2, set a = 3^2 = 9, a + a - a = a, a = 9, answer: 9.

getting it wrong because some of us were taught there is no minus. only adding so the problem would read in such a way we might think the first & last numbers are the same.

+(3)^2 and - (3)^2 Cancel each other out

Leaving just (-3)^2 which is 9.

Mostly it's because people don't understand the the use of parentheses.

You don't even need to mention the whole "-3^2" thing. It's clearly obvious that it's "subtract 3 squared" and not "squaring negative 3".

a+ b - b = a

(-3)^2 + 3^2 - 3^2

= (-3)^2
= 9

Isn’t it 9?

Edit: I just finished the video and I gotta say, whoever is getting this wrong either is under 5th grade or is an idiot/doesn’t have any education. I did it in my head in the first 10 seconds. It’s very simple
