China actually develops and gives people the means to escape poverty. Infrastructure is the best thing you can do for others, not temporary "aid". Not having a zero sum foreign policy means you actually help the world!

Smart move by Pakistan. China funded the project as agreed by both countries, also able to build the infrastructures needed. Interesting time ahead!!!

The port holds great strategic and economic significance for Pakistan. It is third important deep sea port of Pakistan after Karachi and Qasim ports. It is located at cross-junction of international sea shipping and oil trade routes. Gwadar can act as an international trade hub for Pakistan.

China's determination can easily be displayed by the science, engineering and hard work in completing the railway line to Lhasa Tibet.Peace

In view of Western people believe totally in their government controlled news, your quote of a Chinese proverb: "A wiseman make his own decision and the ignorant man follows public opinion" is very appropriate in life.

BIG win-win, BIG boost to Pakistan economy/development, Gwadar Port is perfectly in the middle of Africa, Europe and Asia, Gwadar will be BRI/international hub, for China, control and alternative route to avoid Malacca Strait. Next is a pipeline from Gwadar to China, that will also connect with ME and rest of Asia. Endless possibilities! The Great Game 3.0 is on.

It is unlikely that the locals will have an unfavourable view of the Chinese presence. Pakistan and China have always been friends dating back to Zuan Zhang, that happens to be the main character from the fables of 'Journey to the West', really it is a pilgrimage of a monk to the west. Well, we call it fables but every child in China knows the stories. Pretty soon, I am sure you will see high speed rail transport to Gwadar from Xinjiang, exporting goods from inner China, and it would also enrich both the people of Xinjiang and along the route within Pakistan to Gwadar. As for a military presence, it is unlikely to happen as China does not need to project it's military presence unless the US decides to leverage it's presence in Dubai and surrounding. It may serve as a service hub for the PLAN on rare occasions but a permanent base is unlikely. China likes to form partnerships and strategic partnerships, so to have a military presence in Gwadar will show disrespect and distrust towards the Pakistanis, this would inflame certain sectors of societies there. If there is a need, China will boost the Pakistan military to protect their investments and interests in the region. This is also crucial for China to help develop Afghanistan, and it is also likely that the region will more than benefit China. First helping Pakistan, Afghanistan and eliminating the threat of ETIM in the region, once Afghanistan starts to prosper from this together with Pakistan, it is very likely that the Taliban will not see a need to struggle an imperial invasion or an occupation from another country. Once people are enriched and educated, I am sure no one would want to hold an AK47 and cause trouble. Developing the South Western Region of China is imperative for China to bring equality and a better standard of living to the poorer South Western Region, it would not be long before Xinjiang will be comparable to Shanghai or even Beijing, that is the aim of the CPC and the Chinese nation as a whole, a win win scenario for all.Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan will bring in gas and oil for that region of China and Pakistan, they in turn will help quell the terrorists (ETIM) in the region. It is a Chinese custom to see those near you are well and enriched so that they in turn could enrich our lives further, being rich on your own will cause resentment and envy and you will never have peace. Our parents brought us up to share and enrich people around us, what ever nationality or religion they may be, it is good karma. If you believe in karma.

Guys u left out the most important reason when gwadar is important which is that it decreases Chinas dependence on the choke point of strait of Malaka. In case of a war that can be used by aggressors to block Chinas oil supply. Also using gwadar, the transit time from Middle East to China is cut down to few days from more than a month.

Remember Shenzhen was a fishing village 40 years ago. Look at the city now It is a Global Tech hub. China can do something similar for Gwadar.

The Gwadar port holds significant strategic and economic position within Pakistan. It may even rival the likes of the other established Karachi and Qasim ports. Already, Gwadar is seeing brand new jobs being created for the local population

Gwadar is chosen because it is a pure win win project. Pakistan gets funded infrastructure and improves technology, market and people’s livelihood. China secures energy supply and strategic CPEC-BRI dominance westwards. India should place national interests before emotions, and join friendly cooperation with Pakistan and China for Asian-Middle East trades. Unfortunately, putting emotions aside for the nation’s benefits is culturally and politically difficult for some countries.

China has 1 or 2 bases, it is big news. However when US had nearly 1000 bases all over the world. Nobody say anything.

Goods shipped to Gwadar can be transported overland to China, cutting out the long route across the Indian Ocean, into the Straits of Malacca, and then to the South China Sea to China. In times of conflict, the US could intercept shipping along this long sea route. Gwadar allows China to cut out this long noose.

When China can lift 1 billion of its citizens out of poverty level, that is something all government should follow. The west would not believe this for sure stating that you cant believe in any Chinese numbers.

PM Imran khan believe in this 2 years back he gave a statement that they would follow what China is doing, that time the figure was around 800 million Chinese people being lifted.

So the problem here is, would a country want to believe and co-operate with China ?

This Gwadar port issue will certainly make India jealous and furious, and that's why they are close friends of the USA. China has been friendly to India and other countries, as they believe is real win-win attitude, unlike lips services only.

But sad that the current politicians of India have chosen this path of conflict. I hope a wiser Indian party would win the next election.

when you invest on ports not military base of course it will be win win solutions

Even if the Gwadar Port are to be China's navy base, it's only there to keep the balance with the amount of US and Western military bases all over the place. Every country has the right to live freely without being threatened/protected by the presence of US military everywhere.
