Album: The Cowboy Rides Away: Live From AT&T Stadium
Utgitt: 2014
Låtskrivere: Lieber Jerry / Wheeler Billy Edd

"Jackson" is a song written in 1963 by Billy Edd Wheeler and Jerry Leiber and first recorded by Wheeler. It is best known from two 1967 releases: a pop hit single by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood, which reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 39 Easy Listening, and a country hit single by Johnny Cash and June Carter, which reached number two on the Billboard Country Singles chart and has become more appreciated by non-country audiences in recent years as a result of Cash's continued popularity and its use in the 2011 film The Help.

George Harvey Strait Sr. (born May 18, 1952) is an American country music singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer. George Strait is known as the "King of Country"[1] and is considered one of the most influential and popular recording artists of all time.[2] He is known for his neotraditionalist country style, cowboy look, and being one of the first and most prominent country artists to bring country music back to its roots and away from the pop country era in the 1980s.

Martina Mariea McBride (née Schiff, born July 29, 1966) is an American country music singer-songwriter and record producer. She is known for her soprano singing range and her country pop material.

Lyrics:
We got married in a fever
Hotter than a pepper sprout
We've been talkin' 'bout Jackson
Ever since the fire went out
I'm goin' to Jackson
I'm gonna mess around
Yeah, I'm goin' to Jackson
Look out Jackson town
Well, go on down to Jackson
Go ahead and wreck your health
Go play your hand you big-talkin' man
Make a big fool of yourself
Yeah, go to Jackson
Ho comb your hair
Honey, I'm gonna snowball Jackson
See if I care
When I breeze into that city
People gonna stoop and bow
All them women gonna make me
Teach 'em what they don't know how
I'm goin' to Jackson
You turn-a loose-a my coat
I'm goin' to Jackson
"Goodbye", that's all she wrote
But they'll laugh at you in Jackson
And I'll be dancin' on a Pony Keg
They'll lead you 'round town like a scalded hound
With your tail tucked between your legs
Yeah, go to Jackson
You big-talkin' man.
And I'll be waitin' in Jackson
Behind my Japan Fan
Well now, we got married in a fever
Hotter than a pepper Sprout
We've been talkin' 'bout Jackson
Ever since the fire went
I'm goin' to Jackson
And that's a fact
Yeah, we're goin' to Jackson
Ain't never comin' back
Well, we got married in a fever
Hotter than a pepper sprout'

Time and again and again George Strait demonstrates what real country is all about. For a little under half a century, he's been carrying the torch of country music almost singlehandedly. Here's a beautiful rendition of Johnny and June Carter Cash's immortal duet 'Jackson' from his 2014 live performance. The song gets a new life, and Martina McBride is superb as always. No matter how many times I watch it, I absolutely love it.

Not only did they rock this, but they also did in a cool comfortable style! They enjoyed performing as much as we enjoyed the vid. Totally at ease before thousands ... Love it!
