1971 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Muscle Car Of The Week Video Episode 220 V8TV

There is a lot going on with the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am for ‘71, not the least of which is how cool the car looks. Pontiac engineers really did their homework to help make sure these cars could still offer high performance in spite of impending regulations that would otherwise choke the bird out.

Even the low compression 455HO was still a really good performer and the 70-73 T/A is one of the best looking cars ever made imo

I’ve owned a 1973 Trans Am for 47 years and still love it

70-73 are, by far, my favorite of any era TA. This one knocks it out of the park

Cool. I had a '71 formula with a 455HO and an M22 trans back in the mid 70's that I bought for $2300. How I wish I had kept that car!

Awesome car. The 70 to 73 body style was always my favorite especially in blue with white stripe.

What a car, I had a '71 over here in england in 1985, two holley 850's roller cam, dana rear axle, just a touch of the throttle would send it flying toward the horizon like a scalded cat! the local cops were not impressed with my choice of ve-hicle lmao!! Only downside, it drank more fuel than a fighter plane, loud pipes, lead feet...., , ,

Just an outstanding car! The color, the condition, the roar of that 455 HO, I listened to that 10 times already, they are a joy to look at and a bigger joy to drive, Thanks Pontiac.

Oh the glory days. A more optimistic, simpler, and happier time for most Americans and it showed in the cars that GM made back then. That car is incredible! Thanks for the upload.
I was only a 6 y/o child at the time but I vaguely remember that one of my relatives had a car almost exactly like this! We have YT and the internet today but so many others things were really better back then.

That car is so beautiful. About to tackle a restoration of a 76 with just me and my dad. I remember driving it when I was 16/17 with my dad and man, I don’t think I could tell you a time that I smilled more. I’m 23 now and look forward to reliving that moment with him

The scoop was functional through 1972. It was boarded up beginning in 1973. Also, all '70-81 TAs came standard with front disc brakes and 15-inch wheels.
