I had a realization about this. But obviously in general I don't know shit.

But basically, we trade, we exchange value for value.

The root of morality says that there is only one moral exchange between people.

That is a sacrifice. When one person sacrifices for another one, that is undeniably a moral exchange for them.

Any other exchange, even one where both parties feel they got their values worth, are amoral.

Even in a trade where both feel they got equal value, an outsider can always see the values differently.

The morality remains ambiguous because it depends on opinion.

Their conclusion therefore is that ONLY a sacrificial exchange can be moral.

However since human beings are born "sinners" we cannot in reality live up to the ultimate form of morality, sacrifice.

So instead, the concept of sacrifice is more of a universal. It points in the direction which guarantees only moral action.

Of course, the problem with that was discovered plenty long ago. That in actuality, when people trade everyone is better off than if everyone were to live their lives sacrificing.

Even Muslim countries who still wish to have laws against usury, have it but they're trying to trick God by manipulating words in the law books.

They cannot avoid recognizing that self sacrifice does not achieve the results of a more prosperous society.

They are forced to recognize that banking and such are good things for society. Selfishness is good for society and self sacrifice does nothing.
