I once left a skeptic gobsmacked when they asked "how can you trust a book written by man?" I said "Fair point, what book can you trust?"

Typical example of a young person/student who gets a bit of knowledge from "college" or "university" and all of a sudden "knows" everything about everything and proclaims it with "authority". He sounds like he's most likely parroting stuff he's heard from is atheistic, liberal professor. - I could be wrong, but this is my initial, gut response to this young man.

The young man didn’t do enough research. Greek was the de facto international language of the time, so widely spoken that Jews of the 2nd century BC translated the Torah into Greek so Greek speaking Jews could read and understand it.

The fact that Josephus was Jewish, would give him a better reason to deny Jesus instead of backing up the events.

When I see people scrutinizing the Bible, I always wonder if they use the same scrutiny and strictness towards EVERY OTHER historical writing that exists?

If the Bible was tampered, then every other writing unrelated to the Bible could be tampered, right? Do they also analyze every nook and crany and search for every possible contradiction? Or are they more lenient with them because they aren't directly related to God?

I am sure some studied people do that, but I doubt that it is the same amount of people who are trying to debunk the Bible.

When the Bible says " fisherman" its not talking about a guy like myself that fishes on the occasional weekend. These were business men type of fisherman.

Why are students not asking their professors “how do we know what is in our curriculum is true?”

They don’t even QUESTION these professors…

Ask them “do you KNOW that, or do you THINK that? “
