I’ve never had luck with peas but you’ve inspired me to try again!

Our entire family used to sit on the porch and shell peas. Ever family did that. Big paper bags of pea shells!

Something I learned from my anniversary trip- beans, squash and corn were traditionally grown all together. The corn grows tall. The beans are supported by the corn and grow up it. The squash grow low, are protected from the sun by the corn, and suppress weeds with their leaf coverage. They are called the"three sisters"

Wow! I didn't know you plant so many in one fabric pot. I'm going to sow more right now! Thanks.

I grew those in a hanging basket and let them cascade instead of trellising

I think it's kinda oddly cute how the plants just wrap around the tomato cage like a handle bar mustache

Soak for 1 hour before planting
Peas are a cool season crop = spring and fall plant/harvest.
We grow Oregon pea pods successfully this way.

I wanted to thank you for teaching about topping the head off of a plant for more fruit. I could not believe how many peppers I have already! Thank you again

Soak them overnight in water before you plant!! Especially if you live in a hotter climate. I’m in Texas. I use a wilt tolerant snap pea and soaking the seeds the night before changed my life!!

We used to have a wild native pea bush along my uncle and his neighbours who lived across the roads front fence, the old man raise our house grew watermelons he loved sharing with the neighbourhood, I miss when everyone had sometbing they grew or were growing and were excited to share, or at the very least knew their neighbors enough to offer

I like to water the soil so it’s thoroughly moistened before I set down seeds. That way I know I didn’t miss any dry spots down in there.

I always soak my peas so that they "plump" before planting. I find this makes it easier to grow and shorter time to sprout.
I also only plant snow or pod peas - in which you can eat the entire thing. No waiting for the "right time" for mature peas. (Which you can often be too early or too late for the peas)
Plus most don't know that the pea leaves are edible too. Tastes just like peas! I dont take too many (as plant does need them) but eat raw or add to a salad.

I’m about to start some peas indoors here in central texas. It’s my first time growing them and I’m very excited! Will also be in containers. Hopefully I have enough pea starts to share with friends 🌱

I don't know why, but when you opened up the pea plant, I just shuddered in satisfaction
