So, the way the AI he talks about works makes this impossible right now.

I really believe that AGI will arrive one day, but this is way, way too soon from what it’s capable of.

Basically what he said in the interview that Google set up parameters so their AI doesn’t become sentient, and even if it were to become sentient, it wouldn’t be considered sentient, based on their own parameters. Meaning any AI they create at Google, wont be in any consideration of being alive, or thought of more than the intended purpose they were created for.

they found out that blake lemoine stitched together a bunch of things to make it seem like the ai was actually talking to him. there’s also no way that it could do that since the program types words based off of novels and articles on the internet, so it doesn’t have a consciousnesses, or even know english.
